Rag Paintings, 2023-2024
Donated rags, drop cloths, acrylic paint, wool felt
The recent experience of caring for my dad while he was dying from dementia, and subsequently sorting out his belongings when he died, introduced a new material to my practice- rags. I began experimenting with depicting flattening tissue boxes and towel dispensers as fabric paintings using rag scraps. The rag paintings featured here were started during a residency at Marble House in Dorset, VT with scraps from their rag bins.
Special thanks to residency staff at Marble House, Hyde Park Art Center (especially Tran and Mariella), Molly Roth Scranton, Jade Yumang, and Chandler Daily
